Job Hunting

I was filling out the San Francisco Unified School District application and came across this:

* Have you ever been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, or do you currently have a felony or misdemeanor charge pending? Convictions include a plea of guilty, nolo contendere (no contest) and/or a finding of guilty by a judge or a jury. (NOTE: Exclude convictions for marijuana-related offenses for more than two years old.)

Anybody find the NOTE a little strange? I guess they could be a little more specific about what a marijuana-related offense is (not that I've been convicted of one). But, if you kill someone because you're high is it a marijuana-related offense and thus you are excluded from owning up to it on an application (for a job that involves kids by the way)? Of course, it would have to have been more than two years old. I guess that's California for you....
